Pineda de Mar is full of interesting places that build its historical heritage. The Roman aqueduct is the result of the process of Romanization at the Maresme lands, Montpalau Castle, located on the top of the mountain Montpalau, on the slopes of the Massif Montnegre. The Tower of St. Jaume (XIV century and XVII) id the best preserved fortified element of the village. The Church of St. Pere de Riu keeps the Romanesque structure of the eleventh century. Pineda also has several chapels scattered throughout his term, built by the natives for centuries as a center of devotion: Mare de Déu de Gràcia (1715), Sant Antoni (SXVIII), St. Andreu (1076), Sant Rafael (1908) and Sant Jaume (XIX century). Big farmhouses as Can Cànoves or Can Jalpí are signs of a past that will not return. The old library Serra i Moret and all the buildings edified during the second half of the nineteenth century, give personality to this town that has grown a lot in a short time.
