Bungalows in Playa de Aro

Many families who choose this region for their vacations are looking for luxurious houses or apartments in Playa de Aro. It is true that it is a destination known for its expensive accommodations and tourism. However, what would you say if we put together the luxury of these houses with the modern and fun facilities of a campsite, all with direct access to the beach?

You can find accommodations in Playa de Aro that have it all! For example, you could book this 50m2 bungalow with a roof terrace, from which to contemplate the beach, just a few meters away. You may also be attracted by this 3 bedroom mobile home with Smart TV, air conditioning, sheets included... halfway between the swimming pools and the beach, in a quiet area with a children's playground.

If you are looking for something simpler, you also have more traditional options of mobile homes and bungalows in Playa de Aro. For example, this bungalow surrounded by flowers or this mobile home two steps away from the beach both have air conditioning. If you need more space, you can also find 3-bedroom bungalows.

Finally, even with the smallest budgets, you can enjoy the sand and the sound of the waves with these equipped tents just a few meters away from the beach. Seriously, there is something for everyone!

Camping pitches in Playa de Aro

Maybe you prefer to bring and pitch your own tent, or park your caravan on a pitch with electricity. Camping enthusiasts know very well what we are talking about: it is like having a portable, nomadic home, whose window you can change your view at any time by driving a few kilometers.

If you choose a campsite in Playa de Aro, you can make this view a magical work of art, enjoying  the colors of the sunsets of the Costa Brava. Whether you travel in a tent, caravan, van or motorhome, you will be able to choose a pitch whose size corresponds to your needs. You can also look for one that is more or less close to the facilities and activities that interest you.

Thus, some people prefer to be located near the modern swimming pools of the campsite, while others will be more comfortable near the sandy beach. On the other hand, if you choose a campsite that offers half board or full board, you may be more interested in a pitch near the restaurant where you will have your breakfasts.

In the end, choosing a campsite in Playa de Aro is not complicated. You just have to think about what you need together with your family, and you will see that some option exists.

Your stay in Playa de Aro

So once you have chosen the ideal accommodation for your vacation in Playa de Aro, you just have to find out a little about the surroundings. This way you can plan some activities for your vacation and fully enjoy this beautiful destination.

Here are some tips on what to do in Playa de Aro!

What to see in Playa de Aro

You will find several points of interest in Playa de Aro to get out of your sun and beach routine.

For example, you can go for a walk in Parc dels Estanys. It is a park designed in the context of the hydraulic plan of the Ridaura river. With its pond in the center, it has an important role as it recreates the marshes of the region. Thus, it allows to counteract possible floods in case of heavy rains. It is also a place of life or passage for many species of plants and animals: more than 170 species of birds have been observed there. Perhaps you will be lucky enough to see a mallard, a moorhen, or a cattle egret in winter.

Do not hesitate to leave the beach to explore the town of Castell d'Aro:

  • The ascent to the church: it is a pedestrian street that goes up from the level of the beach to the castle and the Santa Maria church.
  • The castle: It is in the heart of the old town. You can visit it for an exhibition for example, or to participate in cultural activities. It gives its name to the municipality of Castillo de Aro, whose origins date back to the 15th century. You will find a medieval atmosphere, an interesting contrast with the large commercial avenue and the more modern buildings of Playa de Aro.
  • The Doll Museum: the little ones and not so little ones can discover an incredible collection of more than 350 dolls from different eras, coming from all over the world.

It is clear that you cannot spend a vacation in Playa de Aro without going for a walk along the promenade. Whether it is on the way to the beach, or one of the sweet summer evenings, having a drink there is a nice break. This promenade is great to stretch your legs a little, breathe the sea breeze, listen to the sound of the waves, and obviously stop for a moment in one of its bars, restaurants, or cafes, to relax quietly.

What to do in Playa de Aro

Playa de Aro is the ideal destination when you think of combining beach and shopping. So we cannot talk about spending your vacations in Playa de Aro without proposing these activities. However, right after we also suggest some other options to have a great time with the whole family.

First, Playa de Aro is the perfect place to go shopping, especially thanks to its main avenue full of small and larger stores of brands, clothing, decoration... And if you move away a little from this core, you will find in the small streets other small stores, such as outdoor galleries. It is the place to go if you are looking for a souvenir or a gift, and smaller brands. There is also a small hippie market, the Secret Market, which takes place on the weekends in a nice place, as if it were a small festival with its stalls and bar.

This commercial area of Playa de Aro and its main avenue are also ideal to have a drink or stop for lunch. You will find a multitude of restaurants, bars and cafes, for all tastes and budgets. For example, you can buy some crepes for a snack, or on the other hand, make a great meal of Mediterranean cuisine with fresh fish and seafood and proximity. Besides, you will find everything: Italian dishes, gourmet hamburgers, fast-foods, tapas, ice cream, a Nutella bar...

What would a vacation on the coast be without a bit of relaxation on the sand? Well, for that there is the Platja Gran in Playa de Aro: a long beach in front of the iconic seafront apartments. If it's too crowded for you, we advise you to follow the coastline (we'll tell you more about the Camino de Ronda later) until you reach a small cove. The Costa Brava and the surroundings of Playa de Aro are full of these small beaches with turquoise waters, surrounded by clear rock cliffs and abundant vegetation.

And because a little hiking never hurts, we suggest you try even just a piece of the Camino de Ronda. This is a path along the coast, formerly used by the authorities to control smuggling activities, and has become today a popular place for walking, jogging or a bit of sightseeing. One part of the Camí de Ronda goes from Playa de Aro to the beach of Sant Pol in S'Agaró (about 1 hour, well preserved and easier). On the other side there is a longer way to Sant Antoni de Calonge, more authentic and more winding, with stone stairs, between coves and cliffs.

In addition to these free options, you have an interesting selection of fun activities to do together with the family in Playa de Aro. It is better for them to inform you beforehand in case you have to book in advance.

For example, if you like water activities, Playa de Aro is ideal. You can rent a kayak, a paddle surf or a jet ski to start or continue practicing if you are already amateurs. The environment is perfectly suitable, and you will have the opportunity to reach some inaccessible coves on foot. Some companies also offer boat trips, with or without a skipper, so give yourself a treat and spend a moment on the high seas away from civilization!

Finally, if you come with children, they will love the following: there are many parks around, designed for them (and their parents, of course). You can give them a treat by taking them to a water park in Playa de Aro like the Aquadiver with its huge slides of various shapes. There is also PP's Park, a mix between an amusement park and a village fair. And for the adventurous, we know they will love the Costa Brava Parc d'Aventura, with its adventure circuit in the pine trees.
